1947 Kaiser Special
In 1947 Kaiser-Frazer Corporation’s first car, the Kaiser Special was introduced.
The four-door sedan featured a 100 hp, 226 ci Continental-built L-head six engine, coupled with a 3-speed manual transmission.
The Kaiser Special was billed as “One of the most talked-about cars in America”, touting it as the distinctively new trend in comfort and styling.
The company continued building passenger cars through 1955.
1948 Cadillac Series 61
Even though the 61 Series was Cadillac’s base model in 1948, it featured big changes in styling.
Most notably, it ushered in the tailfin era of automotive design. It also featured a complete front fender redesign, wraparound bumpers, and eggcrate grille.
Powered by a 346 cubic inch V8 L-head engine producing 150 horsepower and an automatic Hydra-Matic transmission, it was designed to compete for sales with the Buick Roadmaster and Packard Deluxe Clipper.
The Series 61 model series from Cadillac has always been valued by collectors, even though more than 5,000 Series 61 four-door sedans were built for the 1948 model year.
